This guide will show you how to transform the Kim Top into a cardigan with snap fasteners. This is a step by step guide of how to add a “cut -on“ facing; pivot a side dart into a diagonal dart; and create a baseball neckline. Permission is also given to change the width of the sleeves; add a cuff or pockets.

The starting point for this hack is the Kim Dress pattern (FIND HERE) but the neat thing is that the hack also works for the Skater Top and other comfortable knitted t-shirt (if the pattern is too tight (with negative ease), the garment will gape between buttons). 

My hope is that this guide, showing you how to turn the Kim Top pattern into a cardigan will encourage makers to look at patterns in a new way - not as an end point but as a starting point.
