Progress report Octopus screen print 2026 IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN

It is going to happen.

My colleague Dylan* and I  will  screen print octopuses at the end of September.

 I expect the fabric will take a good week to arrive so please get your orders in by  September 18th.

*Dylan has a studio called Many Tentacles..co incidence ?

Fabric and colour options

The plain colours are 92% cotton and 8% elastan , 240 grams/m and 150cm wide

The Plain colours cost 11 euro/m

The  striped fabric is 95% cotton 5% Elastan and has a GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), 200 grams/m and 150cm wide

The striped fabrics cost 13 euro/m .This fabric is softer than last time, think baby clothes

A printed octopus big or small is 20 euro.

 There is a choice between 6 plain colours and 2 striped qualities

Navy

Dark Petrol

Bright Pink

Steel

Burgundy

Navy and Milk Stripes

Grey/Green and Milk Stripes

AND PLAIN BLACK

Photographing colours is always tricky I would say these are pretty accurate with the exception of the Dark Petrol and the exact colour of the grey/ green stripes.

  The dark petrol, on the left  is somewhere between these 2 colours.

The Grey/Green stripes, on the right , are slightly lighter than this image.

Which Size Octopus?

The grid behind the octopuses is composed of 10cm x 10 cm squares. 

This image is free to download. I hope it will be useful when planning which style you will use for the octopus print.

The octopuses will be orientated like this.

 The BIG one is 70cm across x 65cm high

The SMALL one is  48cm across x 45 cm high

Fabric Lengths

The 2 sizes of octopuses will be available on specific lengths. This is to avoid waste due to inevitable slip ups and to avoid hours of measuring and remeasuring.

 If need be matching extra fabric can be ordered without an octopus.

The BIG octopus is available on 2m or 3m lengths

Which Stokx Styles ?

We have mocked up the Kim because many of you have this pattern.

But to shake things up a little,  here is some inspiration from the community.

The Stokx Octopus will return... and bring a smaller friend.

Here they are on the grid. Each square is 10cm x 10cm 

You will be able to choose between a big or small octopus.

I have been searching for a new supplier for cotton jersey.

There is an excellent white quality without elastan which would be a lovely light t-shirt.

 I tried out some navy- but It seemed a bit thin for a dress.

My original supplier is no longer in business. This is a pity because good quality is so often trumped by a better price... sigh.

I am on it and will keep you in the loop...

The sweet and changeable octopus is both respectable and anarchic.

What is not to like ?

 I am delighted that  Dylan, the screen printer that took over my former studio, is up for another print run.

My challenge is to find some good fabrics to print on.

Your job is to say what colours you would like and whether the rakish angle is appealing.
