The Birdy Office... the serious Birdy?

The Birdy Office... the serious Birdy?

This Birdy office sort of wants to be an Eve.

The no nonsense collar and shirt front treatment are on permanent loan from the Eve  because they "work".

The fit is the main difference between the Birdy and Eve Families.

The Birdy is slightly empire and is a bit looser around the waist than the Eve.

So, the Birdy Office belongs in the Birdy family because the fit and the notches are the same as the other Birdy patterns.

Merging the different versions will be as easy as lining up the notches and the "wings" are interchangeable.

Pattern families are variations on a theme. If you have made one Birdy, you have a point of reference and have a tool box full of possible Birdies.

There are now 6 neck-line /collar options:

 The round collar

The handkerchief collar

The tie collar

No collar

The Birdy office collar

and  the Birdy office with just a stand collar.

... I suspect that there are just as many "wings" .

The image below is the Birdy blouse (Summer)

The Birdy Office sleeves are split to the elbow, can be buttoned at the wrist or quickly sorted on a mid-sleeve reinforced button.

I love the shirttails on this piece. I find that shirt tails blend well, especially in a layered look.

This piece was tweaked 8 times!! The result was an interesting sleeve and excellent pockets.

This piece started as a dress with shirt tails. Now it is long enough to cover your bottom.

It is easy to lengthen and there are already plenty of other length options in the Birdy family- so this one will have just one length. Just for information, my red striped one (made in Australia with Ronda)is 30cm longer  than the navy and white striped one. The red striped one was made just before Christmas. Ronda also made a Birdy with the curved collar and curved wings.

.

#2 Next, I tried a shorter one with handkerchief wings. This is potentially a beautiful piece, however the side pockets were too big and poked out from underneath. Here they have been shortened.

#3 no pockets and a " normal "sleeve because I was still tweaking the collar placement.

#4 new sleeves and a side panel pocket.

#5 still tweaking the collar  and the shape of the " neck hole". The pocket is bigger and here the top pocket bag is coffee coloured to prevent it showing from the right side.

#6 pfewwww, time to visit the "Bekleidungsingineurin" with this size 4 as a starting point.

#7 my perfect 10 Morena... BOOM!!

I have not been a “birdie” so far. The sleeves were a bit too much for me until now.
Even, if I am not going to an office, I am totally in love with the pockets and the over all style. I will start my first birdie sometime soon, I guess.
Thanks Lindy (once again)
