Further Details

The Oblong is deliberately minimalist, consisting of 6 main pattern pieces.

On a first glance the Oblong looks boxy but the vertical dart at the front shapes the chest and the back shoulder and waist dart creates a shape that fits and suits most.

There are slits from the waist down so it can be worn with tapered trousers or over a rococo ball gown. The back is slightly longer than the front.

The long tie belt can cinch in the waist, be worn loosely to the back or be replaced with a favourite belt.

And yes, the Oblong has a Reach sleeve, so you can move your arms.

This pattern is the starting point of the Oblong family.
